Ketchikan reports 2 new positive COVID-19 cases

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - Two new positive test results for COVID-19 have been identified in Ketchikan through a local health clinic.

    Both of the individuals are Ketchikan residents residing in the same household. How these residents came into contact with the virus is still under investigation.

    One of these individuals is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and the other individual is not currently experiencing symptoms.

    Both of these people have been notified of the positive test result, have been directed to isolate, and are being monitored by healthcare providers.

    Public Health officials have begun the contact investigation for these individuals. Public Health will notify and quarantine additional persons as appropriate.

    Through the contact investigation, Public Health will direct testing of persons that meet criteria based on contact with any confirmed case of COVID-19. Individuals who meet the criteria are being tested in accordance with CDC and State of Alaska priorities.
