Ketchikan police make arrest in sex assault case

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - Officers from the Ketchikan Police Department arrested a California man this week for sexual assault.

    On July 26 at about 5 p.m., officers responded to the Ketchikan Medical Center to take a report of an alleged sexual assault. 

    During the investigation, officers learned Peter J. Vansell, a 34-year-old male from San Diego, sexually assaulted a 38-year-old female at a hotel room in the downtown area. 

    Vansell was arrested for Sexual Assault in the 1st Degree and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held without bail.
