Ketchikan EOC reports 1 new COVID-19 case on Tuesday

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - There was one new COVID-19 case identified in Ketchikan on Tuesday through a local clinic.

    The individual is symptomatic and is a close contact to a known positive case. The individual has been notified of the positive test results, has been directed to isolate, and is being monitored by healthcare providers.

    Public Health has begun the contact investigation and will coordinate with the individual who tested positive to reach out to anyone identified as close contacts to the positive case and advise those close contacts to quarantine for 14 days.

    Close contacts will receive a phone call either from Public Health or from the individual who tested positive.

    Of the four previously reported cases from Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 that were pending investigation, three were determined to be close contacts to a known positive, one was travel related, and one was determined to be community spread.

    There were no new hospitalizations reported today. One individual remains hospitalized.

    Today’s cases bring the cumulative COVID-19 case count, including travelers, to 172.

    The number of positive cases of individuals residing or staying in Ketchikan is 160. 

    Of the 160 cases, 57 are still active, and 103 have recovered.
