Ketchikan airport testing site reports 1 new COVID-19 case

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - One new positive test result for COVID-19 has been identified through the traveler testing site at the Ketchikan airport.

This individual arrived on July 4 and was instructed to quarantine until receiving test results. This individual is a Ketchikan resident and is currently asymptomatic.

This person was contacted by a health care provider with notification of the positive result today, has been directed to isolate, and is being monitored by healthcare providers.

Public Health officials have been notified and will begin the contact investigation today and reach out to any person who may have come into contact with this individual. Public Health will notify and quarantine additional persons as appropriate.

This case brings the cumulative COVID-19 case count, including travelers, to 31. The number of positive cases of individuals residing or staying in Ketchikan is 27. Of the 27 cases, two are still active, and 25 have recovered.

Also, a previously reported positive has been removed from the Ketchikan total.
