Juneau's National Night Out event postponed to October

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - To ensure community safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, National Night Out 2020 is being postponed until later this year.

Typically held the first Tuesday of August, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

It provides an opportunity to bring first responders and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Typically, these events include block parties, cookouts, and other fun events.

The tentative date for NNO is October 6.

Juneau Police Department will continue to evaluate the conditions in Juneau to see if holding an NNO event is advisable.

As October comes closer, JPD will provide updates on the status of the NNO event this year.
