Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau has its first baby of 2021. The baby girl named Madelynn Rose arrived at 7:50 a.m. on the fifth day of the year.
She's the daughter of Alexus Forehand and Kevin McCallister of Skagway.
Madelynn weighed 9.4 pounds and measured 21.5 inches.
She joins three-year-old sister Rayelynn and two-year-old brother Cameron in the family's household.
The family moved here from Georgia early last year, according to a release from Bartlett Regional Hospital.
The family is the fourth recipient of the Bartlett Beginnings tradition for the first baby of the year. They receive a gift of a hand-wrought wood rocker boat filled with baby clothes, toys, and other goodies.
The carpenter is Emergency Department Medical Director Lindy Jones who says it's a few feet long and big enough for years of playtime.
