Juneau, AK (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau are starting the process to hire a new City Attorney after their current attorney Amy Mead will be moving on to the Superior Court.
Deputy City Manager Mila Cosgrove spoke to us about the current status of the search. The City Assembly held a special meeting this afternoon.
"The Assembly met today to discuss how they want to proceed. They will be posting the position for recruitment and should be going out shortly. They expect to start reviewing applications on August 6th."
We asked Cosgrove if the city would be at a disadvantage if a City Attorney hasn't been found
"If the Assembly does not select somebody before Mead steps down, they'll appoint somebody in acting status."
