Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Due to heavy snow, there have been several calls to JPD Mar. 1. However, none have been reported with serious injuries.
Erann Kalwara, Juneau Police Department Public Safety Manager gave the report.
"We've had two vehicle collisions reported to us that we responded to. Two vehicles stuck in ditches and six vehicles just stuck in the snow on the roadway. So there may have been more things happening that we didn't calls on. But those are the ones we responded to. We're just hoping that people will take extra care today. If you don't have to be out and about driving. Don't go out. And if you do, clear your car, go slow. Turn on your headlights."
Kalwara emphasized the importance of having headlights turned on today due to the extreme low visibility.
Alaska State Troopers and Juneau Police Officers have been helping to dig out vehicles stuck in the snow. Kalwara recalled one incident of a person with no sustained injuries being taken home by a Juneau Police Officer after they were stuck on the side of the road in heavy snow.
