Juneau man arrested for drug misconduct

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Authorities made the arrest Monday near Hospital Drive in connection to a mailed package containing 1.9 ounces of cocaine.

    The package was being shipped to Juneau by mail. It was stopped after being considered suspicious by members of the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs task force, or SEACAD. A search warrant was obtained, and 56.61 grams of cocaine was found inside.

    On Monday, SEACAD delivered the package to its intended destination at the 6400 block of N. Douglas Highway. It was picked up by a man driving a truck and was later stopped in the area of Hospital Drive. The driver was identified by police as 24-year-old Juneau resident Dillon Matthew Johnson. 

    The package was recovered inside the vehicle and Police determined that it was opened.

    Johnson was placed under arrest for one count of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

    Police estimate that the street value of the 56.61 grams of cocaine is about $13,680.
