Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - There were 12 new cases of COVID-19 in six Alaska communities.
There was also another confirmed case in Ketchikan.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services said there were four new cases in Anchorage, one in Eagle River, four in Fairbanks, and one in North Pole.
A 73 year old Anchorage resident became the third Alaska to die from the virus. The patient was tested on March 23, was hospitalized, and died on March 28.
Five of the new cases are older adults at least 60 years old. One is under 18. Six of these cases were close contacts to previously diagnosed cases. One is travel related. The cause of five cases are still under investigation.
