Juneau and Metlakatla add COVID-19 cases

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health & Social Services reported 33 new resident cases and one new nonresident case on Labor Day with cases reported in 10 different communities.

    New resident cases reported Monday included 13 in Anchorage, six in Fairbanks, four in Bethel, three in Wasilla, two in North Pole, and one each in Juneau, Nome Census Area, Metlakatla, North Slope Borough and Soldotna.

    The new nonresident case was reported in Fairbanks.

    The report showed Alaska resident cases now total 5,798.  The total of nonresident cases sits at 892.

    The current statewide alert level, based on the average daily case rate for the past 14 days, is intermediate.

    The state reported 2,21 Alaska residents are listed as recovered patients.

    The average daily positive test rate for the past week is 1.84%.
