Judge hears arguments in case between Governor and Legislative Council

The hearing was held via Zoom and streamed on Youtube

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Superior Judge Phillip Pallenberg heard arguments in the case between the Alaska Legislative Council and Governor Dunleavy on Friday; no decision has been made at this time.

The Alaska Legislative Council asked for a preliminary injunction to stop Governor Dunleavy's appointees from continuing in office until the legislature can reconvene and approve his picks.

Assistant attorneys general Margaret Paton Walsh and William Milks asked the judge to declare the legislation passed in March, which allowed the legislature to delay approving the governor's appointees, as unconstitutional.
