JPD Reveal Details of September Crash

    Juneau, AK (KINY) - Juneau Police have released further information on a major crash at the Fred Meyer intersection that happened in late September.

    According to an information release:

    On September 21st, around 4 pm, two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash with one vehicle catching fire. A JPD officer was able to extinguish the flames with an extinguisher from his vehicle. Each vehicle only had one occupant. Capital City Fire Rescue has to extricate one driver from her crushed vehicle.

    Both of the drivers were taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were totaled.

    JPD worked alongside the State Troopers and NOAA in the incident.

    One charge has been filed so far. Jeff Sewill was cited for Failure to Exercise Due Care.
