JPD arrests man following altercation with woman involving firearm

    JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - A Juneau man was arrested after an altercation with a woman ended up involving a couple of neighbors and the near-use of a firearm.

    According to a JPD press release, police received a report on Monday, July 3rd that a male, identified as 27 year old Juneau resident Casey J. Yakovich,  was involved in an altercation with a female in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive.

    JPD officers determined that Yakovich had followed the woman to a neighbor's residence where two men became involved, trying to stop the altercation.

    Allegedly, Yakovich attempted to draw a gun in this period of time, which prompted a struggle to break out over the weapon, which was not fired.

    Yakovich was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center after being arrested for two counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree.
