Interim Principal chosen for Thunder Mountain High School

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - John Luhrs replaces Steve Morrow who left the post following the conclusion of this school year.

    Luhrs has 40 years of experience in education, with much of it in Alaska.  

    He began his career as a high school teacher in Worland, Wyoming and then moved to Ketchikan progressed into school administration as the principal of Ketchikan Charter School and Valley Park Elementary. Luhrs then went on to be the Principal at Harold Kaveolook School in Kaktovik.

    His past experience includes serving as the interim Human Resources Director for the North Slope Borough School District.

    Luhrs holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Education from University of Wyoming. His Master of Education, Education Administration is from the University of Wyoming.

    Luhrs already has ties to Thunder Mountain.  His daughter Jenna graduated from there.
