Hunter Found Safe on Shelter Island

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A hunter who got separated from his party was found safe and sound Sunday night.

    George Skan, 25, had gone hunting with his father, but they got separated while deer hunting on the Island. The father called Alaska State Troopers and reported his son was not equipped to spend the night outside.

    They began a search at 3:30 pm Sunday that included a US Coast Guard helicopter and volunteers from Juneau Mountain Rescue. Alaska Wildlife Troopers also assisted in the search. The group was able to locate Mr. Skan at about 7 pm on the east side of the Island.

    He was transported back to Juneau in good condition and declined any medical attention.
