Hundreds more COVID-19 cases reported from Friday to Sunday in Alaska

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 463 new COVID 19 cases between Friday and Sunday.

    There were 66 hospitalized.  The next death toll will be reported Wednesday.

    Thirty-five of the new cases were reported in Juneau.  In other Southeast communities, there were 19 in Ketchikan, 11 in Sitka, seven in Haines, six in Metlakatla, four in Craig,  two each in Hoonah Angoon, and in the Prince of Wales - Hyder Census Area.

    Anchorage topped the state with 97.  There were 35 cases reported in the Mat Su Borough.

    In the meantime, the department reports the statewide alert level remains high.
