Homicide reported in Palmer

Palmer, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers found a dead woman in a driveway late Sunday and her alleged killer standing nearby.

Troopers responded to a welfare check call just before 10 pm.  The trooper located Edwin Clawson, 39, of Wasilla, in the driveway standing near the body of a deceased female.

Troopers reported that Clawson was immediately detained and the scene turned over to the General Investigations Unit.

Clawson has been charged with murder in the second-degree.  He was held at the Mat-Su Pretrial facility to await an arraignment hearing.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
