Homer resident indicted for vehicular homicide, authorities seeking whereabouts in Vegas

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - On Wednesday, a Kenai grand jury indicted 20-year-old Tyler Cordes for vehicular homicide in the death of 25-year-old Drew Brown of Homer.

    Cordes is charged with driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed, while under the influence of alcohol, and crashing the vehicle off the Sterling Highway in Homer on Dec. 21, 2021.

    Two other passengers were injured in the crash. Cordes was indicted for murder in the second degree, manslaughter, assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.

    Cordes has not yet been arraigned on the charges.  He left the state shortly after the incident.  

    On Sept. 14, 2022, the Kenai Superior Court issued a warrant for Cordes’ arrest.  According to a release, it is believed that he is residing in the Las Vegas, Nevada, area.  

    Authorities are asking anyone with information about Mr. Cordes’ location to contact the Homer Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.
