HIV self-testing kits to by launched by ANTHC

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium will make HIV self-testing kits available through their sexual and holistic wellness site,, in an effort to expand HIV testing in the state.

They said that this service will help bridge the gap for people in remote and rural areas in Alaska. People who order a kit will be paired with a nurse who can help with questions and procedures.

There are already self-testing kits for other sexually transmitted infections. Both kinds of kits are available to anyone for free with an Alaskan mailing address.

The program is being launched on National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 20.
