Hiker rescued near Ketchikan

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - A 49-year-old Ketchikan hiker reported she was lost Monday and got a helicopter ride to safety.

    Alberta Shields reported she was somewhere between Perseverance Lake and Carlanna Lake Trail Monday afternoon. 

    Alaska State Troopers obtained the GPS coordinates of her location and relayed that to the Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad.

    They responded to the scene and located Shields and returned her to safety.
