Hidden Falls purse seine fishery announcement

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Hidden Falls Terminal Harvest Area will be open to purse seining from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 7th, and from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 11th.

    Hidden Falls Terminal Harvest Area will be open west of a line from North Point at 57°13.37' N lat, 134°50.56' W long to a point on the Baranof Island shoreline.

    However, there are certain restrictions to follow.

    Kasnyku Bay will be closed west of a line from a point at 57°13.18' N lat, 134°51.89' W long to a point at 57°12.99' N lat, 134 51.96' W long to a point at 57°12.90' N lat, 134°51.51' W long to a point at 57°12.65' N lat, 134°51.51' W long.

    The 2022 forecasted run of summer chum salmon to Hiden Falls is 304,000 fish.

    NSRAA needed approximately 170,000 chum salmon for broodstock.

    Chum salmon broodstock collection has been completed at the Hidden Falls Hatchery.

    Hidden Falls Hatchery is located in Kasnyku Bay on Baranof Island on Chatham Strait.

    Chinook Salmon Landing Restrictions announce that Chinook salmon 28 inches or greater in length may be retained and sold.

    Chinook salmon less than 28 inches may be retained but not sold.

    Fishermen and fish processors are reminded that all salmon, including steelhead, that is commercially harvested but retained for personal use and not sold, must be reported on fish tickets at the time of delivery.
