Gun bill won't pass

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Gun legislation proposed by Anchorage Rep. Geran Tarr won't get out of a house committee this year.

The National Rifle Association opposed the bill that would have given authorities the right to temporarily take guns away from those that are deemed a threat to themselves or to others.

Chairman of the House Judicial Committee Rep. Matt Claman said he lacks supports for the bill and that he does not plan to hold any more hearings on the bill this session.

Claman said he tried to work with the NRA on a compromise but those discussions were not fruitful.
