Grocers to limit sale of meat

    Washington, DC (ABC) - Major supermarket chains including Kroger, Albertsons and Stop & Shop said they will ration the sale of some meat products to stop panic buying.

    The coronavirus has shut down a number of processing facilities across the nation.

    Grocery chains said the sale of beef and pork has risen by 40 percent across the nation.

    Meanwhile, the production of beef and pork has declined by 25 percent during the pandemic.

    The CDC reports 115 plants have COVID-19 positive workers. 

    Thousands of workers are not on the job due to illness, according to unions officials.
