Grand jury indicts Klawock drug defendant

    Klawock, Alaska (KINY) - The grand jury indicted Loretta Mortell, 54, on two felony charges.

    Alaska State Troopers and Craig Police said they served a search warrant on February 19 at a residence on B Street in Klawock and seized over $19,000 in heroin and methamphetamine.

    There were over 20 grams of heroin and over 40 grams of methamphetamines, along with $10,000 in cash inside the residence, police said.

    Mortell was charged with misconduct involving controlled substances in the second-degree and misconduct involving controlled substances in the third-degree.

    The grand jury also indicted Mortell on burglary in the second-degree charges.  Co-defendants in the case include Dolores Medina, 31, and Thomas Ruckman, 36.
