Governors wins another endorsement

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) One day after an endorsement from the Alaska AFL-CIO a major education group endorsed Governor Bill Walker's bid for re-election.

KTVA news said the National Education Association’s Alaska chapter has endorsed Gov. Bill Walker as he seeks a second term.

A statement from the educator's group said Gov. Walker is the right candidate for educators throughout Alaska, "His work to support forward funding for education and his commitment to address the issues of attracting and retaining quality educators fits with NEA-Alaska positions and values."

The endorsement is seen as a blow to former US Senator Mark Begish's campaign.

NEA-Alaska President Tim Parker said Walker's education plan has actually been in action and the group has been part of it.

While Walker received two important endorsements from labor and education, Begish received the endorsement of the Alaska Center which works to elect candidates to want to protect clean air and water.  He also received an endorsement from Alaskans Together for Equality whixh is the state's largest member based LGBTQ Organization.
