Juneau, AK (KINY) - New information points out that Amy Mead was not always the first pick for the Juneau Superior Court.
The Governor's Chief of Staff Scott Kendall released a statement that said that Walker reconsidered the appointment of Julie Wiloughby after discovering comments from a legal brief. Wiloughby had reportedly been told that she had the job, but the Juneau Empire reported that two hours later she was told that Mead would instead get the position.
The reason for Walker's reconsideration involved a case involving the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl. A brief that that was filed on the case involved an argument where Wiloughby argued that the sexual assaults against that girl were a "mutually satisfying sexual adventure" and did not harm the child.
