Good samaritan killed by truck

    Nenana, Alaska (KINY) An Anchorage man died when he stepped out of his vehicle to assist a person on a snow machine and was struck by a tanker truck Monday night, Alaska State Troopers said.

    :Sylvester Smith, 22, died at the scene.  The truck driver, Robert Smith, 65, from Anderson, was not hurt.

    A dispatch from troopers stated they responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision between a tanker truck and a pedestrain at 6:10 pm near milepost 280 on the Parks Highway.  They stated Smith had stopped his car to assist the person on the snow machine on the side of the road.  Troopers went on to report that Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officers also responded and the investigation is ongoing.
