Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Candidates for the November Gubernatorial, U.S. Senate and U.S. House elections are taking shape after unofficial results from the 2022 primary in Alaska were released.
Unofficial results from the Alaska Division of Elections as of 7:45 pm Aug. 26.
Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski presently tops the list with 85,344, 45.00% of the vote. Republican challenger Kelly Tshibaka is in second with 73,161, 38.58%. Democrat Pat Chesboro and Republican Buzz A. Kelley are 3rd and 4th in votes, with 12,945, 6.83%, and 4,034, 2.13% respectively.
The gubernatorial candidate leading is Incumbent Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy with 76,248, 40.42%.
Democrat Les Gara follows with 43,511, or 23.07% of the vote, and Independent former Governor Bill Walker follows with 42,943, 22.77%. Republican Charlie Pierce is currently fourth in the standings with 12,439 votes, or 6.59%.
As for who may advance to the November election for Alaska's U.S. House seat, Democrat Mary Peltola leads with 70,048, 36.81%. Second is Republican Former Governor Sarah Palin with 57,486, 30.21%. Following in third place is Republican Nick Begich III with 49,833, or 26.18% of the vote.
Republican Tara Sweeney follows up in 4th place with 7,142, 3.75%. She had recently announced however that her campaign will be ended. Libertarian Chris Bye is 5th in votes with 1,182 votes, or 0.62%.
