Fred Meyer, Red Cross Work Together for Earthquake Relief

    Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - The two organizations have partnered to provide earthquake assistance in and around the Anchorage area.

    Fred Meyer has made a $25,000 commitment to American Red Cross to help fund disaster relief efforts in Alaska.

    The two organizations have partnered to provide earthquake assistance in and around the Anchorage area.

    “Fred Meyer is a big part of this community and we want to do our part to help with emergency solutions,” said Joe Grieshaber, President of Fred Meyer. “This donation is a starting point and was an easy decision for us.”

    Fred Meyer has also changed out its Alaska coin box donation receptacles at check stands so that all funds collected will go to Red Cross for the Alaska earthquake effort.

    Additionally, the Hunger Round-Up program, which allows customers to round up their transaction to the nearest dollar, will designate all funds raised to go to Food Bank of Alaska, so they can provide water and food for those in need as a result of the earthquake.

    In addition to this news, Fred Meyer has stated that all stores in Alaska are now open.
