Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Brent Kunzler lives in Skagway and works as a physician's assistant at the Dahl Memorial Clinic there but he wants to spend some time in Ukraine.
He worked as a Green Beret medic while serving in Iraq and believes he can help. "I was contacted by some ex-military friends of mine and we're going to plan on at least seeing what we can do as far as medical aide inside of Lviv. We're not going to Kyiv and we're not going to go down into the fighting area. We have no intent to get into combat arms. We're too old, too slow, but what we can do is provide basic medical care and then make sure people get transferred to their appropriate facilities that may be in Poland."
Right now, he's working to get his shift covered at the clinic and then he says he's gone.
A verified GoFundMe account has been established to assist the effort. "That money that goes in that fund is to buy supplies," he says. "We're going to buy them in Poland. We're not going to transport any supplies. It would be just too expensive"
