Five non-resident Juneau cases related to seafood processor

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau’s Emergency Operations Center today reports two new resident cases of COVID-19 and three new non-resident cases.

    The non-resident cases are employees at Alaska Glacier Seafoods; the results are from the July 22 mass testing effort.

    Public Health has initiated contact investigations and will notify and quarantine additional individuals as appropriate.

    Cumulatively, Juneau has had 84 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March. Of those, 13 cases are active and 69 have recovered. Recent resident cases have been a mix of community spread, secondary transmission, and travel-related.

    A total of 63 non-residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in Juneau; 30 of these cases are still active.

    All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.
