Five candidates seek to replace CBJ's Rob Edwardson

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The slate of candidates for the City and Borough of Juneau municipal election has been finalized.

    Candidates for two school board seats and three seats on CBJ Assembly needed to file before 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

    Vice Mayor Maria Gladziszewski is running unopposed for her area-wide, three-year seat.

    In Assembly District 1, Alicia Hughes-Skandijs is being challenged by business owner Kenny Solomon-Gross.

    The race for outgoing Assemblymember Rob Edwardson's District 2 seat will feature Emil Mackey III, Robert Shoemake, Derek Dzinich, Christine Woll, and Lacey Derr in a five-way race.

    In the school board race Brian Holst, Martin Stepetin, Sr., and Crystal Schmitz have filed to run for two open seats.

    Candidates have until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31 to withdraw or make changes to the way their name appears on the ballot.
