Filing action heats up in CBJ Assembly, school board races

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - As of mid-day Friday there are three candidates for two school board seats and three candidates running for two assembly seats.

    No one has filed for the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly District 2 seat being vacated by Rob Edwardson, with the filing deadline coming up at 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

    In the Assembly, Kenny Solomon-Gross has filed to run against Alicia Hughes-Skandijs, and Maria Gladziszewski is running to retain her seat.

    In the school board race, Brian Holst, Martin Stepetin, and Crystal Schmitz have filed to fill two vacancies.

    Candidates who filed for District 2 must be a resident of the area, which includes the Mendenhall Valley and areas out the road, with the exception of the Airport Area which is part of District 1.  

    The southern boundary of District 2 is approximately in the area of Fred Meyer.
