Fansler resigns

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) The near week long odyssey of what he will or won't do ended this morning with the resignation of State Representative Zach Fansler.

Fansler, a democrat, was accused of striking a woman, injuring her ear drum in a motel room after a night of drinking in January.

The House Majority asked him to resign last Saturday.  No criminal charges have been filed in the case at this point.  Fansler's attorney denied the allegations against his client.

Already democrats in his district have been talking about possible replacements for Fansler, who represented Bethel and western Alaska.
