False alarm after drifting boat located near Battleship Island

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The US Coast Guard reported the owner of a 12-foot pleasure craft was located safe and sound after the boat drifted off its mooring into the waters near Auke Bay.

    US Coast Guard Sector Juneau reported the owner of the boat contacted them and told them he was safe and sound.

    The Coast Guard searched for just over two hours when a good Samaritan located the vessel with nobody on board near Coghlan and Battleship Islands around 4 pm Thursday.

    The Coast Guard thanked the community for the tremendous response to their alert.
