Electrical problem likely cause of North Franklin fire

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Smoke damage was extensive in Monday nights downtown fire.

An electrical wiring problem is suspected as the cause of the fire at 206 North Franklin that impacted six apartments and a couple of local businesses including Barnaby Brewing Monday night.

Fire Marshall Dan Jager said no one was reported to be injured, but the extent of the damage has yet to be calculated.

The buildings did have insurance.  Jager also thanked the community for their patience due to closure of city streets during the fire.
