Electric Vehicles to rally on Juneau streets to celebrate earth day

    Mitchell said the Electric Bus will be the biggest and newest vehicle in the convoy.

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau's Electric Vehicle owners will be celebrating Earth Day activities with a COVID free Road Rally event Saturday, and organizer Duff Mitchell said the rally was inspired by a national campaign "Drive Electric Earth Day."

    Mitchell highlighted that Capital Transit's new Electric Bus will also be joining in the rally, and is considered to be the main event of the convoy.

    The Rally will depart at 1:30 PM, so vehicles are asked to line up at 1:00 PM.

    A route map will be provided to participants at the event.

    The Rally will travel from Downtown Juneau to Nugget Mall area, and then travel to Savikko Park at Sandy Beach in Douglas, and conclude the route at Whale Park in Downtown Juneau.

    Sponsors include the Juneau Electric Vehicle Association and co-sponsors Renewable Juneau, Juneau Hydropower, IBEW, Mendenhall Auto, CBJ Capital Transit, 350Juneau, JEDC and others.
