E 911 dispatch proposed

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Governor Bill Walker has proposed a centralized statewide 911 dispatch system.

The projected cost is $9.5 million.  He would get the money by redirection of $10 million he wanted to spend to survey on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to gather date on oil resources.

Officials said the survey is not needed at the present time.

Alaska is one of three state's that does not have a statewide 911 system.
