Dunleavy scraps snow machine entrance

Noorvik, Alaska (KINY) Due to the earthquake damage in Anchorage, Mike Dunleavy decided to stay at the command center instead of taking a 65-mile snow machine ride to his swearing-in ceremony

Dunleavy and Lt. Gov Kevin Meyer will both be sworn in around noon today.   Dunleavy chose Noorvik because his wife Rose is from there.

His inauguration ceremony will be held in Wasilla on Wednesday.

Governor Bill Walker's term ends at 12 noon.  The Walker and Dunleavy staff have worked together on earthquake recovery efforts.

Dunleavy planned to charter a plane this morning and fly into Noorvik for the ceremony.

The legislative session is only six weeks away.  Key issues will remain crime, the budget, and the PFD.
