Drug trafficker sentenced to 10 years in prison

    Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Ayon Duenas, 61, of California smuggled in heroin and methamphetamine into Alaska for nearly two years.

    Duenas pled guilty to drug conspiracy and money laundering.  US Attorneys allege he had co-conspirators that obtained controlled substances, over 1,000 grams of heroin and more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, in California to distribute them in Alaska.

    He was also accused of depositing the money from drug sales into banks in both states, using other people's accounts.

    The co-conspirators, Juan Carlos Hernandez, received 44 months, and OcsarJosue Maldonado received two years in prison for drug conspiracy charges.
