Driver, truck identified from rock through window death

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Alaska State Troopers said the company involved Granite Construction has cooperated in the investigation.

Noah Schwebach, 8, of Eagle River, died Thursday when the rock fell off a construction truck and crashed through the windshield of the Volkswage GTI Hatchback he was sitting in.  He died at the scene.  No one else was hurt.

Construction on the Kenai Peninsula highway was halted during the investigation.  The rock was compared to the size of a volleyball.

Troopers did not release the name of the driver but noted they continue to investigate.  The investigation will focus on what the truck was hauling and attempt to determine the circumstances of the accident.  They also seek additional eye witnesses to the crash.
