Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary downtown is due for a renovation.

Diocese of Juneau Bishop Andrew Bellisario said on Action Line he thought they were in the final approval stage on moving forward.

The bishop says he start of work will depend on when they receive the amount of funding needed to proceed.

The cathedral was built in 1910.  The bishop said it needs some structural work and better access than it has now.
