Domestic leads to man being stabbed

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Police said a local man is hospitalized and his girlfriend is behind bars charged with assault.

    Police were called to a residence in the 2800 block of Postal Way and found the 51-year-old man bleeding from a chest injury.

    Valerie Wilson, 48, has been charged with assault in the first degree and is being held at Lemon Creek Correctional. No bail was immediately set.  Police said a verbal argument led to this incident.

    The victim said he was stabbed with a butcher knife.  Capital City Fire Rescue assisted the man and transported him to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment.

    Police said they found the suspect in the home uninjured and also located a large bloody knife suspected to be the weapon used in the assault.

    The victim was listed in serious but stable condition.

    An investigation into the stabbing continues.
