Docks and Harbors to listen to presentation on Visitor Industry Task Force recommendations

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The CBJ Docks and Harbors Board of Directors will take up a light agenda during its regular meeting Thursday evening.

There are two items up for discussion.  One involves a presentation from Port Director Carl Uchytil on the recommendations of the Assembly's Visitor Industry Task Force.  Uchytil said on Action Line that he wants to make sure the understands what is recommended and is in agreement with the proposals.

Also up for discussion is WIFI availability.  "One reoccurring theme we hear mostly from our downtown harbors are concerns about security and so we're looking at opportunities to beef up the WIFI that's available in the harbors."

Uchytil said Snow Cloud Services, a local WIFI provider, is going to address the board on what can be done to improve the WIFI to the point where they would like to encourage our patrons to have their own security systems on their own vessels to provide a better sense of security throughout the harbors.

The Docks and Harbors Board meeting is scheduled to convene at 5 p.m.

Members of the public can participate by calling 713-2140 and entering the participant identification number which is 370829.
