Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Port Director Carl Uchytil presented his proposed two year budget for the Docks and Harbors Department to his board's Operations and CIP Committee during a meeting Tuesday evening.
He discussed what he told the board while a guest on Action Line. Even though he said they are a very solvent organization, there is concern that the gap between revenues and expenditures is narrowing.
Uchytil is proposing that funds from the downtown docks be transferred to harbors. He explained the monies he's proposing to transfer are collected from permit fees derived from the vendor booths and the bus loading zones. "That will bring $400,000 approximately into the harbors' revenue side," he said. "That will be very helpful moving forward with all of the needs we have in the harbors."
The full Docks and Harbors Board is scheduled to take up the proposed budget during its meeting next Thursday.
That happens in advance of the board's joint meeting with the Assembly scheduled for January 30.
The Assembly must sign off on the department's budget submission.
