Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau Docks & Harbors Operations Committee moved, with unanimous consent, an item dealing with the development of the Seadrome building in downtown to the full board on Wednesday evening.
The committee heard a presentation regarding Goldbelt's Seadrome Development Plan by Steve Sahlender, vice president of the Goldbelt Alaska Group.
Sahlender said Goldbelt plans to covert the Seadrome building in downtown Juneau to a small cruise ship dock.
Goldbelt is proposing that a new three-story facility be built at the corporation's Seadrome building. The dock would accommodate yachts and small cruise ships of up to 273 feet. Part of the property will also be modified into expanded parking and staging.
An appraisal survey comes next. Since the ownership in parcels of the property is a mix between Goldbelt and the CBJ, Port Director Carl Uchityl said that will need to be resolved.
The size and value of the parcels also needs to be determined.
