Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - CBJ Port Director Carl Uchytil provided an update on the status of the defunct tugboat Lumberman anchored in Gastineau Channel during the monthly Docks and Harbors Department program on Action Line.

He said they continue to work with their federal partners in the Environmental Protection Agency and Coast Guard to make sure they are monitoring the situation.

Uchytil said there's an opportunity coming up during the Coast Guard's Buoy Tender Roundup next month.   He said the Coast Guard is bringing in a U. S. Army dive team.  The team's commanding officer has reached out to the department to ask if there are any projects for them. Uchytil said  Harbormaster Dave Borg suggested that they dive on the Lumberman to inspect the hull and also adjust the anchors if necessary.
