Democrats rebound in state house races

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Andi Story held a 2,335 vote lead over challenger Ed King as absentee ballots continued to be counted across the state Tuesday.

Six house democrat incumbents who had been trailing on Election Day have rebounded and have taken the lead.

70,000 absentee ballots were counted Tuesday and approximately 87,000 ballots remain to be counted across the state.

Only Sitka representative Jonathan Kreiss Tomkins continued to trail in his race.

Other competitive house races included a battle in House District 25 between Democrat Calvin Shrage and Republican Mel Gillis.  Shrage held a 52 to 48 percent advantage.

Democrat Lyn Franks and Republican David Nelson are in a close race in Muldoon.

Ballot Measure 2 remained undetermined with about a 12,000 vote margin currently opposed to the measure.
