Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - In response to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced March 16 through March 27 will be non-student contact days in Alaska’s K-12 public schools to allow a period of planning and preparation for district personnel.
Educators across Alaska are currently preparing for possible distance delivery of instruction – a feat that will create unique challenges, and a situation for which Alaskan educators and school leaders will need support. The education of our students can and must continue.
In an effort to provide information, resources, and leadership to support educators during this challenging time, the Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) launched a Teaching and Learning Support website.
The goal of the website is to provide Alaska’s educators and families with relevant resources as they prepare for possible school closures related to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. The site will continue to evolve and grow over the coming days and weeks.
